A little local perspective

Driving to the foreshore at Shelly Beach.

Shelly Beach lies between Moffat Head and Caloundra Head. The Des Dwyer Walkway runs through the foreshore reserve, and Shelly Beach Park has parking and picnic facilities. Plan where to park as well as where you want to walk.

1

Finding a meeting place

Council lists the beach area around Victoria Terrace and King Street. Agree on a specific spot if you're meeting someone, so you know where to look when you arrive.

2

Parking before your walk

Shelly Beach Park has parking and picnic facilities. Choose a suitable space and check the signs before leaving the car to head along the foreshore.

Leaving the park

People may be walking between the picnic facilities, parked cars and foreshore. Check around you before reversing or pulling out, even if the road looks quiet.

For parents and supervising drivers

Ask what the learner is working on and how practice between lessons can support it. A licence is the milestone; safe driving for life is the bigger picture.
