A little local perspective

Learning close to home in Battery Hill.

Andrea Ahern Park is on Teranna Street, with its playground at the southern end. The park has paths and parking. Driving there gives you a few things to practise: finding the address, slowing down and parking.

1

Finding Teranna Street

Check the park's location before setting off. Knowing which end of the street you're heading to leaves you with less to work out behind the wheel.

2

Taking your time to park

Finding a parking space can feel harder when someone is waiting behind you. Keep your attention on controlling the car and checking around you.

Watching near the playground

Paths connect the park's facilities. Look for people walking near the parking area, including children who may be harder to see behind a vehicle.

For parents and supervising drivers

Ask what the learner is working on and how practice between lessons can support it. A licence is the milestone; safe driving for life is the bigger picture.
